Bio
A resident of Pittsfield, MA, Andrew started practice as a direct commissioned lieutenant and attorney for the U.S. Coast Guard on Governor's Island, N.Y., concentrating in criminal litigation and the National Environmental Policy Act. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1983 and in 1985, the Supreme Court of the United States by bringing the first case heard on direct review from the Court of Military Appeals. In 1987, he began practice in Berkshire County, eventually moving his office to North Street, Pittsfield, in 1990 and to the Clock Tower in 2023.
Andrew’s law practice in Pittsfield has included civil trial work, personal injury cases, consumer protection and debt collection, commercial and residential real estate transactions, business consulting, landlord and tenant law, and domestic relations. Andrew has also represented clients in matters involving zoning issues including petitions and appeals.
Andrew has extensive experience in Landlord and Tenant Law having owned sixteen units of rental property in Pittsfield and Medford, Massachusetts as well as in New York State. As a landlord and as an attorney for both landlords and tenants, Andrew has an in depth knowledge of their legal, business and practical concerns. Andrew also serves on the boards of four condominium associations and is president of two of them.
Andrew grew up and attended schools on Long Island. He graduated with honors from the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor's degree in biology in 1971. He earned a Master's degree in communications from the same university the following year and returned three years later to earn another Master's degree in library science.
A Berkshire County resident since 1977, Andrew was director of the library and media center at Taconic High School from 1977 to 1981. In 1980, he decided to change his career and pursue a law degree.
In 1983 he graduated Cum Laude from Western New England College School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review. Andrew served two separate terms as President of Temple Anshe Amunim and then served nine years as Treasurer. He served as chairman of the Richmond Zoning Board of Appeals and is now a member of the Richmond Land Trust. He also is a member of the Berkshire County Regional Housing Authority and served on the Berkshire Housing Development Board and the Berkshire Housing Services Board.
